Mission of The Institution
The mission of the Torchbearr prescribed fire/ fire crewmember is to provide training and confidence, and to qualify students to National Wildfire Coordinating Group standards in becoming a Fire Practitioner/ Firefighter. Provide a local and national workforce in an Equitable Workforce Development Training Program.

Program Goals
The goal of Torchbearr is to produce competent, entry-level prescribed fire/ fire fighters. This training program and resulting crew are also intended to create a prescribed fire/ fire/ fuels workforce. Crew members will meet the United States Department of Labor’s Standard Occupational Classification of Fire Fighter. Prescribed Fire / Fire Crewmember (RXCM)
