If you see smoke rising west of Grenada, CA off Hwy 99 (southwest of Yreka) Saturday, May 28, 2022, note that this is a 10-acre prescribed burn planned and implemented by Torchbearr with support from the Siskiyou Prescribed Burn Association, Scott River Watershed Council, and CalFire. Pending approval of all burn permits, air quality permits, and a spot weather forecast that shows good conditions, ignitions are scheduled for 9 am on this single-day pile burn event. The burn will help create defensible space by reducing hazardous fuels around our communities. Expect residual smoke for several days following.
